 The kitchen is one of the parts of the house which should be kept clean and dry at all time. It is most of the time the most-used section of the house and can quickly produce a wide range of bacteria such as bacteria, due to all the activities taking place into it, cooking, washing up.It is essential to keep everything in the kitchen clean. Clean after yourself all the time. Wipe out surfaces after using, wash up after using a plate, etc.  

 Following are 7 Tips on how to get a spotless, Germ-free kitchen.

 WORKTOPS: Worktops are a big part of a kitchen. First, keep the clutter to a minimum on your worktops. Less is more. They are easy to keep clean, move items on it before cleaning. Use adequate products for different types of worktops. For example, use a slightly wet cloth with bicarbonate of soda to wipe laminated worktops;  use diluted white vinegar for marble worktops. Dip a cloth in milk to clean a slate worktop.  


CUPBOARDS: Another section of the kitchen to keep clean is the cupboards. The place where the crockery and the glassware are stored. Items such as plates, bowls, cups, glasses, etc.

 To keep the cabinets, clean at all times, they need to be cleaned regularly; to do so, remove everything from the shelves, clean inside with detergent solution paying attention to the corners, let them dry. Before replacing the items, clean them too.  

SINK: The sink must be clear of items, clean and dry, as this is the place where germs are luckily to breed, multiply and contaminate others items.

Use a detergent solution or cream cleaner to clean the sink after each use. Rub baking soda or lemon slices to clean the taps to get rid of limescale.  


ELECTRICAL GADGETS: Most kitchens have electricals gadgets such as microwave, kettle, toaster, etc. They need to be cleaned as well. Before cleaning such items, first switch and disconnect, then wipe them clean with a mild detergent solution or a mixture of bicarbonate of soda and water. You can turn toasters upside down to remove crumbs. A best practice is to immediately clean equipment after use. Do not soak in water.  


COOKER/HOBS AND OVEN: To avoid any dirt build-up, it is essential to clean your cooker/hobs and your oven regularly. Usually follow the manufacturer’s instructions, and depending on the type of cooker/hobs, oven you have. For a gas and electric hobs, switch off first, let cool down, then take off removable parts, wash them, use a detergent solution or white vinegar. A lot of oven cleaning products are available, for gas and electric ovens, you can use appropriate detergent solution or bicarbonate.  


EXTRACTOR FAN AND COOKER HOODS: Those need to be cleaned regularly to avoid any grease build-up. To clean the extractor fan, switch it off, remove the cover, wash with detergent, wipe clean the fan blades, dry and replace.  Cooker hoods do not need to be all the time, make sure to replace the filter when needed.  


REFRIGERATOR AND FREEZER: Refrigerator and freezer should be kept dry and clean. Wipe any spills in the refrigerator immediately; the outside should be cleaned as well. Follow the manufacturer \’instructions. Regularly, depending on the type, the refrigerator should be defrosted, for a thorough cleaning. You can clean inside with a warm detergent solution or with bicarbonate of soda.  

 Defrost the freezer once a year for a deep cleaning, disconnect the electricity, remove frozen food. Use a mixture of bicarbonate to clean, wipe dry and replace food.
